Goodbye to Autumn ... hello to Winter... with most of the state covered in snow today, I thought it would be fitting to showcase a winter wedding.
Alison White Photography sent us this snowy outdoor elopement that took place in the mountains surrounding the quaint town of Crested Butte. The couple had known each other since grade school, went on to marry other people and after 20 plus years finally found each other again. How sweet!
The bride arrived to the backcountry ceremony spot in a dog sled ... perfect!

So excited to share this gorgeous wedding from the queen of romantic wedding photography, Carol Cardwell. The wedding took place at Durango Mountain Resort which as you can see has no shortage of amazing backdrops. I am absolutely loving the glimmer of gold from the aspens and all the romance Carol captured. We'll be featuring this wedding in the January issue! Todd and Renea were brought together by two unlikely forces, their children. Renea showed up in Todd’s third grade classroom one unsuspecting September morning. Little did they know that their relationship would later bloom. After two years of parent-teacher conferences and repressed social intrigue, the two finally began dating in October 2006. With the blessing of their two children, they grew together as a family.
Destination Steamboat Throughout his childhood, Todd traveled to Steamboat Springs every winter with his family and has made many wonderful memories there. Todd’s parents eventually made “the Boat” their permanent home. Renea’s Mother also lived in Steamboat Springs for a while and this was before Todd and Renea had even met. They were drawn not only to the beauty of the area but idea of getting married in a place with deep family connections. They thought Todd’s Father’s newly remodeled house was a perfect site for their intimate ceremony and reception.
Favorite Details The couple had their parents read poems and messages that they had written. Their children were standing with them during the ceremony and they could feel that they were all joining together, getting married, as a family.
Memorable Moment The Grooms Father found some old Cowboy hats that he had kept for many years and brought them out right before the ceremony started. The hats were worn by the wedding party and later passed around for photos.
Their Advice Try to do it your way as much as possible. You will hear it over and over but it is so important to remember that this is a day for the two of you and everyone else just wants to celebrate with you. Don’t sweat the small details, they will drive you crazy if you let them.
